Arce is an old watchman working in a renowned museum of art. Extorted by museum’s superintendent Pardo, he is to steal a number of masterpieces only to preserve his job. The watchman’s journey can well be an analogy with the struggle of the elderly in Argentina, who are in constant pursuit of their own dignity.
This noir short "El Sereno" ("The Night Watchman") was not only pascui's thesis film, but also the first film to be produced in cordoba argentina at such a large scale, combining sophisticated steady-cam sequences, with arial shots captured from a helicopter flying over the Cordoba mountains (before there were drones).
"El Sereno" was the Winner of the Kodak Film School Competition, obtaining Honorable Recognition from legendary cinematographer Laszlo Kovacs.
